Undoubtedly, Russia is a unique country, and the people in it are also unique. I will tell you about one of the aspects of the uniqueness of Russian people.

What is Russian sadness?

It is overpowering feeling of desperation. Russian people enjoy their sorrow with no end. They are sad and wistful by default. They take melancholy for granted and relish it. Russian sadness has no reason, it just exists. This feature of character is inherent to Russian people and reflects Russian soul.

What are the reasons of Russian sadness?

There are some possible reasons of such Russian soul’s sorrow. They are harsh climate, low quality of life. Russia has a unique way of historical development. All these political issues, such as wars and repressions, left a substantial mark on country in general. These factors affects mentality a lot and forms soul of simple Russian person who never smile to be polite.

Why do I love Russia?

It’s a bit contradictory question, because I was in the state of detesting Russia as a country. When I was fourteen my cherished dream was to live abroad. It was also my main motivation to study English. But everything changed when I grew up. Harsh reality has replaced infantile dreams. Life abroad has ceased to be so attractive. I understood other countries are not salvation. There is no heaven on Earth.

Why do I love sad Russian soul?

The answer is a piece of cake. I’m Russian. I belong to this total Russian sadness. I was raised on similar principles as many generations before. My soul consist of complex of factors, similar with factors in souls of many Russians. We have shared mentality. And I’m part of global melancholic wave. I was grown up this way. It cannot be changed.

Conclusion

Summing up, I can say I love Russia because of despair. But I’m already glad to find my place in the world, at least in geographical terms. It should be mentioned I’m proud of being Russian. I’m proud of many aspects of Russian culture, like art, literature, music and others. But it’s issue for another story I’d tell you one day. Let me know if you are interested.
